The African Humanities Association (AHA) was established by the adoption of its constitution at an African Humanities Programme (AHP) Regional Assembly in Abuja in February 2020. After fifteen years of AHP activity the time has come for a new initiative, driven by the circumstances and needs of African scholars and locally designed to extend the transformative impact of the AHP on the continent.
Engaged scholarship: which takes the context of social problems in Africa very seriously.
Humanistic approach: which eschews the quick fix of technicist or formulaic solutions.
Pan African perspective: which emphasises intra-continental cooperation.
